The text below is taken from The Ottawa Citizen newspaper, 12 May 1991, page F10. In 1991, Michel Naim Aoun (a Maronite and former Lebanese Army Commander) goes into exile.
In hospital on Friday, May 10, 1991, Abraham Monsour, 101 years of age. Husband of the late Selma Haddad. Dear father of Mike, Joseph, George, Gebran, Latifa (Mrs. Aziz Ghattas), Karima (Mrs. Khalil Nader) and Josephine, all of Ottawa. Predeceased by a son John and a daughter Afifa. Also survived by several grandchildren. Friends may call at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 235 Kent Street, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral service Monday at 2 p.m. in St. Elijah's Orthodox Church. Interment Pinecrest Cemetery. In memoriam donations to St. Elijah's Building Fund would be greatly appreciated.
Lebanese Maronite leader Youssef Bey Boutros Karam (1823-1889) who led a revolt against the Ottoman Empire in the 1860s died the year that Abraham was born.
