The following text is taken from The Citizen (Ottawa) newspaper, 23 July 1984, page 17.
Peacefully at home on July 22, 1984, Bessie Digby, aged 101 years, formerly of 1313 Shillington Avenue. Wife of the late Robert Digby; mother of Douglas (and his wife Eunice) of Ottawa. Foster mother of Reginald Pitcher of Petawawa. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Friends may call at the Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Road (between Island Park Drive and Woodroffe Avenue) from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until Service time Tuesday. Service will be held at St. Peter's Anglican Church, Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's Anglican Church.
According to the death notice concerning Robert Thomas Digby (The Ottawa Journal, 10 April 1972, page 30), his wife was Bessie Thorne. According to the Ontario marriage registration (1919 #009055), widow Bessie Bean (daughter of Augustus Thorne and Annie Huxtable) married Robert Thomas Digby in Westboro, 30 September 1919.
According to the Ontario marriage registration (1915 #002231), Bessie Thorne (daughter of Augustus Thorne and Annie Huxtable) married Albert Edward Bean in Ottawa, 7 August 1915.
According to the 1891 census of Alverdiscott, Devon, England and the index material concerning births registered in England, Bessie Thorne was born in Torrington district, Devonshire.
